Roar of the Mama Lioness

Hello Friends,

The other night I got really mad.

I can't remember what upset me so bad. But I do remember furrowing my eyebrows, pursing my lips, and starting to obsessively clean things around my house.

Woe to the one brave enough to interrupt the "MeShel Bussey Cleaning Fury". I was channeling my anger and using it to do something productive.

When I was younger I used to wonder how my mother could get so fierce and firm with people. I used to think "No way would I be able to ever have the guts to tell someone off like that." When it came to me, my mother clawed tooth and nail to make sure I had what I needed or was treated the right way. She will be the first to tell you that it only took one time for someone to cross her the wrong way or handle something inappropriately for her to yank me out of a daycare center. I must admit, I was always in awe of her power. And I still am.

Now that I am a mother, I have an understanding of where that power comes from. It is something very innate and instinctual that happens to a woman when she becomes a mother. They put that sweet little pink or blue bundle in your arms and you just know.....you would do ANYTHING, fight ANYONE, go ANYWHERE for that little peanut.

Sometimes as a young mother though, you forget the power that you have. You are easily overwhelmed by the day or by your circumstances. The kids have run all over you, and you are DONE. You have no idea how you're going to achieve your dreams now that you have “little person” responsibilities. You're exhausted, and you've lost your fight. Whenever that happens to me I think about Revelations 5:5.

“And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.”

~Revelation 5:5

You know who that Lion of Judah, is right? That's Jesus. Jesus is the "Lion of Judah". The lion is a powerful creature and a significant symbol of strength. Think about a real lioness in a pack, though. These ladies do all of the work! They get the food, raise the kids, protect the kids and their territory, and maintain the home {I mean lair}. You would not want to mess with a Mama Lioness! But understand this, our God is powerful......like a lion. And the Bible says;

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

~ I John 4:4

He is in us! God is in you, Mama! His strength and His power are in you. Never forget that! When you just can't redirect your child anymore today....when the baby wakes up in the middle of the night AGAIN...... or the dirty kitchen is calling your name....when you feel like the doctor isn't really listening to your concerns about your child....the PTA is mistaking your kindness for weakness and start trying to take advantage of you....you can't push anymore.....when you are really through and feel like you don't have anymore to give......call on the power of Jesus! Remember that He is the Lion of Judah and that Lion Power is in you! You are a Mama Lioness! You have the drive, the focus, the strength, the authority and the power to do whatever you need to do to take care of your family.

In another post, I will talk about how to channel that Mama Lioness Roar! We don't want to be straight up rude to people, but sometimes you do need to be firm. Remember these scriptures when you're feeling weak. You're anything but weak, because the God you serve isn’t weak...and you have all the tools you need to survive motherhood!
